Ahmedabad as Karnavati, the ruling BJP in the municipal corporation has decided to celebrate 601 years of the city’s existence in the reflected glory of the Golden Gujarat events.
On February 26, a ‘Run for Ahmedabad’ will also be organised to ensure large-scale involvement of the general public. Thakor said suggestions from experts in various fields like history will be welcomed to structure the event.
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is planning to celebrate Ahmedabad’s birthday in a big way. It plans to organize several events on the banks of the Sabarmati.
Ahmedabad lovers will cut a 260-foot-long, 14-inch-wide and 13.5-inch-tall cake of 1050-kg weight to celebrate Ahmedabad’s 601 years. The topping will be about 200 artworks. The cake is competing for a place in the Limca Book of Records. The earlier record was set with a 266-foot-long cake according to Rahil Patel and Mihir Desai who are organizing the event.
The cake will be cut at Gajjar Hall near Law Garden in midnight of February 25.26 by prominent citizens of Ahmedabad with fireworks and 601 white balloons.
The preparations to make the cake began a month ago involving a team of artists and icing experts. The pieces of cake will be sent to orphanages, old-age homes and physically challenged people.
