This Is It!!!

"It is said that your life flashes before your eyes just before you die. That is true, it's called Life."

Terry Pratchett (The Last Continent)

Something similar happened to me last night. Now, now….there’s no reason to worry (or rejoice, you sadistic bastards!!). I didn’t have a near-death experience. However, I did watch something that I feel should be witnessed by everyone! This Is It people!! This is Michael Jackson’s untimely swansong!

It was close to 2 hours of sheer magic. And I say that I could see my life flashing before my eyes because every scene in the movie took me back to some point in my past where MJ had a huge influence on me. This got me thinking about what I would consider the most influential MJ moments were. So here’s the Top Ten MJ Moments In My Life (chronologically as far as I can remember)…this post is uncharacteristically long….but its for MJ….so here we go…..

10. It's close to midnight and something evil's lurking in the dark!

I was terrified by the Thriller video. Anyone from my generation who says he/she wasn’t scared shitless is just plain lying. And the laughter at the end *shudder*! But call it a morbid fascination if you will, I just couldn’t look away when the video used to come on. That’s the power of the thriller!

9. No one wants to be defeated!

I don’t know how many people have noticed this. There’s a dude in the Beat It video who’s on roller skates and does this step where he acts like he’s pulling himself up holding his own jacket. That was just incredible to me then. And the gang war going on with MJ dancing through it….trying beating that!

8. Jiggy Jiggy Motte??

The first time I heard Smooth Criminal, I was hooked. I was barely 4 years old but the beat and the video had me going crazy! I loved the song so much that I made it my personal mission to learn it entirely. Mind you, this was a time when you couldn’t get the lyrics at the drop of a hat. And for the life of me, I couldn’t understand the ‘Annie, are you okay?’ part….so I came up with the closest thing possible… ‘Jiggy Jiggy Motte’…yeah..REALLY!

7. Jiggy in the car

My initial years were spent traveling around in an ambassador. Then one clear night, my dad brought home a shiny red Maruthi 800!! And what’s more, it had a tape deck!! Can you imagine the joy of a 5 year old??? So the first thing I do when I see the tape deck…I run up home and get my ‘Bad’ tape and play it in the car!! I rocked to ‘Jiggy Jiggy Motte’ all night long!!

6. Remember The Time?

During the ‘90s, Eddie Murphy was synonymous with comedy. ‘Coming to America’, ‘The Golden Child’….he had several hits back then and I was a big fan. So you can imagine the joy when I saw the ‘Remember the time’ video, with an Egyptian theme, Eddie doing his stuff, and MJ doing his thing!! Brilliance!

5. Making history

During the promotional campaign for HIStory, MJ had several statues of himself erected across Europe and paraded throughout the continent! I was watching this on TV thinking ‘Only he can do things on such a large scale!’. Though HIStory didn’t do as well as people hoped it would, its not a campaign people will soon forget.

4. He rocked my world!

The video for ‘You Rock My World’ had a lot in common with a lot of his older videos. The theme was similar to that of ‘Smooth Criminal’. He had a comedian (Chris Tucker) in the video like he did in ‘Remember the time’. But what he had never done…and according to him, this is one of his biggest accomplishments….was to get the Godfather himself to star in the video.

The ‘Invincible’ album was anticipated for a long time and this was the first video from the album. And what a video it was!!!

P.S.: I think this song is one of the most underrated MJ songs! Its one of my personal favourites!

3. The End of an Era!

June 26th, 2009. Friday morning and I was in bed in Goa after a night of drunken revelry. A friend of mine came barging into my room shouting “MJ’s dead”! It took me quite a while to realize the gravity of his words! But when it hit me, I didn’t really know how to react. No more moonwalking. No more rhythm in the true sense of the word. NO MORE MJ!

2. Better on the other side

Soon after the fateful day, the lyrical genius The Game came out with a tribute to the King. He came out with the single ‘Better on the Other Side’ featuring Chris Brown. The lyrics are powerful. The beat is in sync with the emotions he conveys. A fitting homage to the King.

1. This Is It!

October 28th, 2009. The release of ‘This Is It’. I booked the tickets for the show a few weeks in advance. The expectations were obviously sky-high….And the movie didn’t disappoint. It just brings out the genius of the man!! At 51, he was still as energetic as the guys less than half his age. And he still had it! Judging by the rehearsals, the ‘This Is It’ concert would’ve perhaps been his best yet! Sadly, it was not to be. L

So there you have it! I can think of a million other MJ moments. But I guess I’ll leave them for another day.

Let me know what your favourite MJ moments are!!

De Toxifying your lungs

Below, I think would be beneficial for lungs, even if you have not quite yet quit smoking. (though that is the goal eventually)

Try these things to help your lungs

How to Detox the Lungs

1.Clear your house of dust and second hand smoke residue, which can hang around long after you've quit smoking. Dust the entire house, thoroughly vacuum the carpets (or have them cleaned) and clean out or replace the filter on your air conditioning unit.

2. Break up the existing tar-coated mucus in your lungs. This can be done by adding generous amounts of ginger, cayenne pepper, black pepper, horseradish onion and garlic to your diet. These herbs help your body to break up the unhealthy mucus in your lungs. In addition to the dietary supplements, add a few drops of rosemary oil to a humidifier and spend 10 minutes a day breathing over it with a towel over your head until your lungs feel clearer. Rosemary oil vapor dilates the bronchial tubes which relieves congestion by breaking up unhealthy mucus.

3. Avoid milk and dairy products, which can cause mucus build up.

4. Increase your consumption of water to at least eight glasses a day. The healthy mucus that your lungs need to coat and clean themselves is mostly made of water. Constantly replenishing the water in your body will encourage your body to manufacture healthy mucus. Plus, adequate hydration improves the function of all of your organs and helps your body to flush out accumulated toxins.

5. Exercise your lungs. Physical exercise like jogging, swimming or even brisk walking will encourage your lungs to expand and regain their elasticity. In addition, spend a few minutes exercising your lungs before you go to bed. While lying in bed, inhale slowly and deeply through your nose until your lungs can hold no more. Hold your breath for three seconds then exhale forcefully through your mouth. Repeat 20 times each evening.

Some more herbs, and some repeats

Cordyceps is a powerful lung tonic. There are herbs that can be used to purify the lungs- osha, lobelia and mullein are good for that. Green tea is good, too.

The above was what I pulled initially from this page, as it related to cleansing the lungs.

Herbs, Mullein, Uva Ursi, Coltsfoot for your lungs

"a tea of mullein, uva ursi, and coltsfoot is awesome for helping to heal the lungs, especially in smokers. Now I'm not saying this will get rid of ALL the nasty stuff built up in there from years of smoking, and I'm not saying it will repair all the harm done either... but if I were a smoker, and wanted to get my lungs as healthy as I could.. this is what I'd use :) I'd take 2parts mullein, to one part of each of the other two, and mix in a big jar and store in my shelf. (a part can be as much as you like... 1/4 cup, 1/2 cup, 1 cup etc) Then I'd take a teaspoon of the mixture, use a tea ball strainer to put it in, pour a cup of boiling water over it... and let steep for ten minutes. I'd drink this a couple times a day for a while."

The above excerpt is from Dr. Elise Wright, and it sounds like a great idea.

Repair for lungs, smokers, etc.

Many people could use more ideas for how to help repair their lungs, or reverse the damage done by cigarette smoking, etc. Here is a blog dedicated to sharing the more natural remedies out there that I have found.

I hope it helps give you or your loved ones ideas of things to try. I know herbs are under-rated, and foods, etc. There has to be some small things that can be done to correct the damage that has been done. I know it can be done for the liver, sometimes, and other organs, so this is my search to help the lungs.

Credit to the blog or site where i found the information will be included, so you can see where I got the info. That is so that if I don't duplicate some of what I find and also because I will wonder about it later. :)

Take care of the wonderful gift of life that has been given to you.

Another food addict just waiting to die

They may need to airlift him with a helicopter but the medics are going to try and save his life. He is Britains heaviest man and he is described as " suffering from food addiction". He is simply waiting to die, and digging his grave with his teeth.

They can mutilate his body by taking away his stomach and he may shrink a little, but he will always be a food addict.
Read it here

N0 one, not even these so called " medical professionals" gets the idea that addiction is a voluntary choice to put one's open life and health at risk through overdose of some substance or behavior.

When an addict chooses life to the full, that's the end to addiction. No surgery or other treatment needed.

Addicted to food - and they know it!!

Here is a link to an amazing story of three sisters, all obese, who all went for the gastric babd op, and are suffering as a result.

They say its because of food addiction: ( addiction is slow suicide, even when food is your fix.)

ADDICTED TO FOOD

Pauline, who lives with her son Peter and partner Chris Decourcy, 43, a lorry driver, makes no excuses and does not blame her weight on her metabolism.

The truth, she says, is that she was simply addicted to food.

'Food has obsessed us since we were kids,' adds Sharon, who is a full-time mother and lives with her partner John Keeble, 47, and her daughter Jessie, 12.

'Most of my childhood memories are of food: of cooking cakes with mum, of raiding the fridge when my parents were asleep.

'I never felt satisfied by a meal, and I could always eat a bit more. One of the reasons this operation really appealed to me was because I would finally feel full after eating.'

The sisters went from being large teenagers to even larger young women - and their addiction was slowly been killing them.

Earlier this year, Georgina was warned that unless she lost weight she would die within ten years because of the strain her weight was putting on her heart.

Sharon has been unable to have an operation to remove an extremely painful inflamed fallopian tube because major open surgery on a woman of her bulk would be too risky. Pauline's very high blood pressure put her at increased risk of a heart attack.
