Money Mindset

In speaking to clients -- and to be honest, even in my own mind -- "money" is a hard topic to discuss. We all know we need it, want it, and desire it -- but most of us don't really feel we deserve it. I truly believe this money mindset can get in the way of success. In order to move our businesses to the next level as entrepreneurs we need to feel deserving of the earnings we create.

If you believe in the law of attraction you know that energy flows out of us at all times. Whatever we are truly believing on the inside (no matter what we are saying on the outside) is expressed to others and to the universe. Sometimes we've been hardwired with negative thoughts about money:

  • Money doesn’t grow on trees.

  • Money is filthy and dirty.

  • Money is evil.

  • I am poor but clean (or good).

  • Money is in short supply.

Positive money beliefs are much more empowering than negative ones. The sad thing is that when most of us think about money, we do not have positive thoughts about it. As much as we would like to be some enlightened beings who have transcended above all material attachments, we must deal with the practical aspects of existence in the real world.

What is money? Money is a form of energy exchange. It stores value by our applied meanings. It is a measure of confidence – of how much you believe that having it can be used for your future purposes, of the value that you place on your own goods and services and of how much others are willing to do an exchange with you for. It can therefore be said to be a measure of your positive thoughts on your worth.

The more confidence you have about yourself and self-worth, the more money you are likely to make and attract. For the same hour of work, person A makes $10 but person B can make ten times more because the latter is more confident, happy and easily attracts customers. Since anything is possible, there really is no limit to how much you can earn.

I recently went to an motivational event that was put on Fabienne Frederickson and was really inspired by her words of encouragement about money. Fabienne's message is that we are all created with a special ability or talent. That talent is desired and needed by others. If we don't share our talents with those that need it we are in essence being selfish. Fabienne says that  it is our duty to share our talents and skills and that the beautiful thing is that with the money we acquire by doing so we are able to help more people in a bigger way. I love this thinking and honestly am working on my own money mindset by focusing on this concept.

I challenge you to examine your own money mindset and discover the money message that you may be sending out into the universe.

Recipes against arteriosclerosis

Olive action on vasodilatation and blood purification is interesting to fight arteriosclerosis.

Olive leaves decoction for arteriosclerosis: boil 20 olive leaves in 300 ml of water until reducing it to 200 ml. Drink slowly.

Soaked garlic for arteriosclerosis: let 50 g (1.76 oz) of cut garlic soak in 200 ml of 60% alcohol for 12 days, taking off the sprout from the cloves. Take 1 tsp every night or every morning on an empty stomach in 2 inches of water (it can be sweetened and, if you want, you can use marsala wine instead of alcohol).
It’s excellent also to low blood pressure.

The recommended foods to fight arteriosclerosis are: onion, milk, honey, yolk (egg whites clog the arteries), grapefruit, lemon and tomato. Avoid wine, coffee and tea for long time.

Alcohol over consumption

Eating a lot of cabbage helps in fighting alcohol side-effects in people who are used to drink or have drunk too much.
Milk and honey too are helpful to sober up.

Pesto Tortellini & Sausage Soup

Pesto Tortellini & Sausage Soup

Note: I love cheese tortellini, pesto, sausage and soup. So, I made one. Perfect with white wine and great for a weeknight because it only takes ~ 1 hour. Sadly and notoriously, soup photographs ugly...So, just trust.

Recipe:

1 8-10 oz Package Tortellini (your choice, I went for cheese)
1 8-12 oz Chicken Apple Sausage (pick your favorite flavor)
2-3 Carrots, washed and chopped
1 Stalk Celery, chopped
1 Onion, chopped
1 Zucchini, chopped
12 oz White Beans, drained
2 Tbs Butter
1 Garlic clove, pressed
64 oz Chicken Broth/Stock
1 Container Basil Pesto
1 Bottle White Wine (to deglaze and drink)
Salt, Pepper
Mixed shredded cheese and parsley to garnish

Crumble and cook the sausage in a large soup pot. Remove, cut in butter, then turn in the celery, carrot, onion, zucchini, and garlic and saute until soft and fragrant. Add the drained white beans. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Add sausage back in to pot, deglaze with a splash of wine, and let simmer down. Pour in the stock and broth, add a spoonful of pesto, and let simmer. Check the tortellini cook time - about that distance out from eating, pour the tortellini in to the soup pot and simmer until done. Ladle in to bowls, top with a dollop of pesto, cheese, and parsley. Serve hot.

I believe I can fly

As humans, we always wonder what sprouting wings and flying would be like. The closest we've come is making gliders or skydiving.

When I was young, I always wanted to fly. I sang I Believe I Can Fly by R. Kelly all the time. It was my inspiration. It would be just so awesome to be a mutant bird kid like in the Maximum Ride series. That would be epic.

Plants vs. Zombies

We're going to talk about something different today. We're not gonna talk about some funky stuff like about how I love to sing and how Minecraft is awesome and about cool movies. Nope, I'm going to do something different today. I'm going to talk about Plants vs. Zombies.

Now Plants vs. Zombies was a very popular game in 2009, when it came out. It was a big thing, a big release, everybody was looking forward to it. Me? I didn't really know about Plants vs. Zombies until 2011, when I got an iPod. Before, I had never heard of Plants vs. Zombies but I realized how big a game it was, so I got it on the iPod. I know it's not as great as playing on the computer because everything's so much smaller and there's a lot of things not there, but you know, it was still a great game.
PvZ, as all you fans should know, is a tower defense game. BUT it's unlike any tower defense game I've ever played before. It's also the first tower defense game that I beat, ever! I found it so interesting that these plants shot peas or juice at zombies to kill them or hinder them from getting to your house to eat your brains. It is a challenging game with 4 or 5 stages to the game, I'm not really sure, I haven't played it in a while but I think 4 or 5 stages. There are a lot of creativity in the game, how they came up with a shroom that froze the zombies or a hot chili pepper is beyond my imagination. All of the plants in PvZ are actually based off of real plants. For example the cherry bomb is, obviously, a cherry. It goes for all the other plants. Every single one of those plants are based off of a real plant. Some are obvious, some are less obvious..
Now as I said before, PvZ is unlike any tower defense game. It's not one of those games where you literally defense a tower. NO. You are trying to defend your players brain from getting eaten! In order to that, you have to kill the zombies!
Also what makes PvZ so much more interesting is that there are a lot of minigames, a tree of knowledge, and a zen garden to get money easier. I know a lot of people use the zen garden to there advantage. They change the time on there iPod, computer, iPad, etc. and I disapprove. It doesn't even take that long for the plants to grow up and give you money! Just wait, don't cheat! Nobody likes cheaters! Plus, it might mess up your zen garden so you'll have to wait twice the amount of time. Just take my advice and don't do it.
I'm sure you have heard that a new PvZ 2 is coming out really soon with new zombies and plants and that it's supposed to be even better than the first one. I can't wait, but I've been waiting for about 2 years already so I guess I can wait.
So the post today is finished, until next time! Ciao!

Tips For Tiling Around Electrical Outlets

An often overlooked problem frequently pops up when installing tile. (Click on photo to enlarge)

That problem is not allowing enough room to install the mounting screws for the light fixture or outlet. And, most kitchens have many of them.

The best time to deal with this issue is when you are installing the tile and not when the electrician or your husband, friend, whatever is attempting to install these electrical fixtures. If you don't get this right it will require the removal of a tile or two or more to fix the issue.

My photo here is an example of what I mean. This fixture is actually behind the backer material so it had to be cut out, and the tile going in the slot will need a slot cut into it for the mounting screw as well.

The two mounting screws

You have two mounting screws to accommodate here. One is the screw you do not see that mounts the electrical fixture (outlet or switch) to the electrical box that is fastened to a stud or affixed to the backing in some manor. This screw is generally about an inch long with fine threads down the entire length. These screws are frequently lost and with the addition of backer and a thick tile may not reach the mounting box. You will find a lot of deck screws or inch and a half sheetrock screws doing this job. Most guys grab whatever screw is long enough to fix this that can be found in their tool box.

The second screw, as in this example holds the faceplate onto the fixture. You have to be certain that there is no tile that will get in the way of either of these screws. These face plate screws have a painted head on them and are small and again frequently lost.

What makes this seemingly insignificant issue very significant is that there is probably current flowing through these electrical fixtures. So you will want to shut the power off when working around these. Especially with a damp sponge. I have taken enough power through damp sponges to light up Reno Nevada for a week so I know what  I am talking about.

Tips,

When disassembling the electrical outlets and switches, remove everything that that will not be replaced anew and store them in a large freezer bag so you don't lose them.

1. Find the breaker box to cut power when working around outlets and fixtures. When you make cuts your tile will be wet and all you have to do is tap a hot screw and I guarantee you will know if the power is on

2. Pre-assemble tile around fixtures to be sure mounting screws will fit and believe me they are really close tolerances, before adhering into place

3. Pre-assemble electrical switch and cover before grouting. You may have to pull a tile and adjust a cut before final assembly

4. Make certain all power is OFF to switches and outlets before grouting. If light is an issue which it always is get some portable clamp on lights and run extension cords from another room (these lights are about $8.00 at Lowes and HD)

5. If you screwed up and you have tile cut too short for the cover plate, there are over sized plates available  that might help you

This is just one of many small items that can become a pain especially if you have to return and redo something you've already done. Sometimes a Dremmel Tool and grinding bit can help but don't wait till later. Do it on install.

JULY EMPTIES (#2)

Lately, I have been feeling that I need to get rid of a lot of things that have been living in my beauty basket (a place where I keep backups, new body lotions, things to use after the things I currently use run out etc...). I feel like my face is in desperate need of change and I have already started planning my new skincare strategy. But until then, I have a lot of rubbish to go through (including loads of Origins stuff I ordered some odd months ago)...

I have enjoyed using these body lotions so much! They are easy to sink in, don't contain parabens and smell good. Tobacco wouldn't be my go-to scent for the summer but I just had to use it up.

Good product if you like the foamy type but I'm now converted to creams and balms when it comes to cleansing my face. Decent, but I don't think I will be re-purchasing soon.

Full review here.

3. Schwarzkopf Bonacure smooth control conditioner

Not. Good. The cheapest conditioner from Sainsbury's works as good as this one (a salon exclusive!). Good job it has been discontinued.

I felt that this whole range was good, but just not for me. The serum was very light but hydrating enough and it does help if you suffer from redness.

Read more here.

These pads were quite nice! They add a nice glow to the skin as they mildly exfoliate. Still though, something is missing and I'm not sure if I am ever repurchasing as I find that other products do this job better.

Full review here

An old-time favourite. I have used more than 10 of these and will keep using them in the future. I love that they don't feel like I'm putting petroleum on my lips, they smell subtly but good and offer such good hydration.

Short and Sweet Blog Posts

There is a reason so few people are reading Anna Karenina nowadays; no one has the time to read anything thats over 1000 words, let alone 1000 pages!  When it comes to the internet and blogging, this fact is especially true.  People on the computer don't usually read page long articles or blog posts.  Make your blog posts three to five paragraphs or about 450 words to hook more readers.  Not only will more people be likely to read the post, they'll also be more likely to share it, widening your audience and gaining future readers.
