If you want to own your own business, and you already have a 9-to-5 job, a family and would like to maintain some semblance of a social life, budgeting time to work toward building your own business can be a real challenge! You’ll have to find time for the children, the spouse or significant other, the boss, and for yourself. And of course, it’s very important to spend time everyday working on that advertising campaign, or doing something productive to build your business if you’re ever going to have that financial independence you keep dreaming about. Wow. Sounds a bit like a magic trick! But….Good News!! It’s do-able. In order to make this all work like magic, you’ll have to plan, and you’ll have to STICK WITH THE PLAN. 1st Step: Like any budget, commitment is the element that makes it click. The first step to success with this magic trick is to write down the most important tasks for the week. Allow yourself extra time for each task just in case something unexpected happens. Remember not to cram unimportant tasks into the day. And if someone asks for a favor, don’t be afraid to say “no.” You will have to learn THAT trick quickly, and also, learn to forgive yourself quickly. This is how millionaires are made. 2nd Step: Next, (once you’ve outlined your week), discuss it with your family and be open for their input. Having the support of your loved-ones is a vital part of this plan. (Make sure you’ve added time to play and interact with your children, you’ve added a “date-night” for your significant other, and time to worship and meditate for yourself!) Tweek or adjust the outline to ensure that it’s workable. 3rd Step: Finally, Now that the outline has been adjusted and maybe, re-adjusted, GO FOR IT! Stick to the plan like glue. You should have enough time for 7 to 8 hours of sleep every night, meal-times, play-time, intimate-time, exercise-time and quiet-time, and still have time for your 9-to-5 j-o-b, plus time to build your entrepreneurial enterprise, if the weekly time-budget is done correctly. After a week or 2, you may feel the need to re-adjust it. But the important thing is that it’s something that works for you, allowing adequate time for the things that are most important to you. If I can do it, anyone can do it! See you at the top!
