When our Earth get divided!!!

Knowledge about the interior of the earth is limited. As one goes deeper into the earth, the temperature and pressure increases and this prevents us from learning about the earth,s interior through direct access. The depth of the deepest mines on the earth is only about nine kilometers. Investigations indicate that even the lava that comes to the surface of the earth through volcanoes are from a depth, maximum of just 64 kilometers.

It was by analyzing the nature of movements of the seismic waves produced at the time of earthquakes in the interior of the earth that the scientists inferred much about the structure of the earth.

The radius of the earth , that is the distance from the center of earth to its surface is about 6371 km.
The outermost layer is of the earth is crust. Rocks containing minerals like silica and aluminum make up the continents and rocks containing silica and magnesium make up ocean floors.
Below the earth's crust is mantle. The upper portion of the mantle is in a solid state. The upper portion of the mantle and crust together called the lithosphere. It is about 100 kilometers.

The mantle is followed by the core, the innermost layer. This part is made up of mainly rocks formed by nickel and iron and hence it is called 'Nife'. The core has two parts. The outer core and inner core. The outer core exists in a molten state. In the center of earth the temperature is almost 11000 degree centigrade and the pressure is very high. Hence the inner core is in a solid state.
