Why Children's Ministry is Important

So when you hear the words "children" and "church" combined, what images pop into your mind? Screaming kids? Leaders running amok with random bald spots from aggravation?  Maybe even those goldfish snacks and a tiny cup of juice?  The Bible holds a very different view.

"But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly
believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you
have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make
you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus." (2 Timothy 3:14-15 Holy Bible ESV)

The children's ministry should be the foundation, the cornerstone, of every believer sitting in the pews of the church.  It should be a place that we think of kids singing, dancing, and laughing at the illustration of finding gummy worms in crushed up cookies!  It should be a place where they RUN TO and not RUN OUT OF.  As children's pastors, leaders, and volunteers we have an obligation to show these kids that, yes, church is and should be a fun place. Get creative, make the words leap out of the Bible and into their laps.  Form motions to worship songs that sing about salvation and love. View movie clips that embrace truth in easy to understand formats. As a child we learned to roll over, push up, crawl, stand, walk, and run. Most of the time it's in that order. Why do we expect the next generation to start at a sprinting speed spiritually if they have never learned how to push up or crawl? So that leaves you the reader with something.  What are you doing to influence this generation?  We all have the same amount of hours in the week no matter where we live, work, eat, and breathe. It was important to the author in 2 Timothy that this boy was raised in the church, how important is it for you?
