This blog goes out to all the Children Pastors, Leaders, and Volunteers. If you are involved in Children's Ministry, you know what the month of May means: events, events, events, and more events are on the horizon (did I mention events?).
Phew, ok now that being said, those events are gold mines at reaching our kids, their families, and our neighborhoods. Along with the events, comes tons of planning. Just today I have planned out June and some of July curriculums and began to brainstorm follow up events post VBS. I find it ironic that I get very excited and hyped up about what could happen this summer, but I am also reaching for the coffee cup!
"Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:31, NIV.
Let's examine this in kid ministry terms:
"Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength." I just talked about planning for events and followup earlier in the blog. The hours we spend with our team hoping, planning, and praying for this summer will pay off! God is going to renew not only our strength but the strength of our ministry! We must put our trust in the Lord for anything to happen this summer!
"They will soar on wings like eagles...." That's pretty huge because if you have ever seen eagles soar, they are really jetting! Eagles aren't like little blue birds that fly from branch to branch. Eagles soar for LONG distances!
"...they will run and not grow weary..." If you are tired spiritually or physically, then this part of the verse is for you specifically. We need to remeber to rest in God's grace and trust that He will show Himself even beyond our wildest expectations to our kids and their parents. To often we run and run, while the whole time God wants to carry us.
"...they will walk and not be faint..." How amazing is it that God promises that we will not faint? We aren't going to fall down. Instead, He wants to build up and encourage His people!
Before I close this blog up, we need to remember the first of the verse above, "...Those who hope in the Lord...". If we want the promises of Isaiah 40:31 this summer, then we first need to remember to put our hope in the Lord. We should use curriculum, study guides, vbs planners, etc to help...but that shouldn't be where our hope is. To many kids and their families are trusting us to put our hope in the right place!
