Construct Adaptive armour:
Basically the idea is to have adaptable armour, which can be altered in certain ways throughout its life time; the majority of it is role-play, with some mechanics thrown into the fray.
So the bases of it all is studded leather armour, which is masterwork with an enhancement bonus of +1,+2 etc., that is studded with magnetic lodestones each having the arcane lock spell altered and fused within. With upgrading the armour plates with a modular design will need to be forged so the arcane magnets can latch onto the plates to form the next set of armour.
Now what I’d like is to have the armour retain certain properties and to have extra things bolted on in the future;
· The leather passes on its enhancement bonus and masterwork onto the next set
· To have at least two pieces of armour be carved with runes (this will be higher level).
· For at most three constructs that can latch onto/ enhance the armour when there on, using the ‘construct limb’ ability.
So that’s the basics of everything, I do have an idea on how to role-play this out and with the idea my character moving towards the more combat oriented theme, there shouldn’t be any badish reason for a paladin looking into mechanics and engineering.
Further on as mentioned I’d like a couple of constructs, two of which I have already drawn up and gotten a general idea what I’d like each to do;
· 2 x Small Cold iron serpents
· 1 x Mithral Armadillo
The serpents would break apart, latching onto my lower half creating extra leg protection and/ or giving me an extra bonus to skills etc.
Now the armadillo I have two ideas, one of which is where it collapses on itself and the shell of the construct would spray apart forming a shield (in the construct limb, the constructs act as a heavy steel shield) or going by the way its worded in the in the construct limb description, the ‘dillo’ latches onto a free hand of mine and I gain proficiency with its basic attack (a heavy flail or wrecking ball) so when I attack I gain an extra attack via the construct.
Now these constructs themselves when in combat form, would have special things on them as well and it says I can upgrade the constructs base stats (for a bloody hefty price I might add) so there’s some cool role-play there as well.
The costing of all this isn’t too bad…… (*Cries)
1 . Leather armour (studded) +1, masterwork: 1175gp
2 . Magnets/ lodestones x 40: 20gp
3 . Arcane lock spell (gold dust for magnets): 250gp
4 . Armour adjustment per tier( scale à Breastplate à Half/ full plate): 7gp each
5 . Constructs:
· 2 x Cold iron serpents (1,600gp)
· 1 x Mithral Armadillo (5,000gp)
6 . Construct limb: (I don’t know if we could do multiple constructs under one thing so I’ve done it all separate i.e. legs = 1 limb, arm = 1 limb) 54,000gp
Hopefully this clears anything up, its kind of me slicing up all the rules and ‘trying’ to piece them back together without destroying your game, I’ve also worked out once I have the constructs in place, alongside the max tier of armour with bonuses, I would have at least 25AC when everything is on me.
This is for the pathfinder game im in currently, i was looking through the books and my dm pointed out that i could be tony stark/ iron man so i delved into the books and decided to 'homebrew' this heathen of an idea.
