I'm sticking to the dwarves, for now, as they are all built so I can work on them all at once. The one in the front with only a quart of his shield is pretty much done. I'll be finishing up his shield the next time I paint and doing any final highlighting. The black dwarf on the far left is pretty much done except I'm brainstorming on what kind of design to paint on his shield. Once I get the design on there I can go about cleaning up the shield, as some of the black got on it. I used to do these types of touch ups on the fly but it really slowed down my work. Better to just do them all at once. I gave a couple of the dwarves (one is off camera) red beards to break up the brown/blond colors I had going on. After a brown wash, to tone them down a bit, I'm really happy with how they came out. It's nice to be in a groove that allows me to complete so much in one sitting.
I've got Necrons and Tyranids incoming for the forces I'm building for 40k. I've always done Space Marines, Eldar, or Tau, essentially all the good guys. Now I'm focusing on the races that I would hate to have to face across the table from me. Kind of a face your fears sort of thing. Both forces should paint up fairly quickly and make room for a 3rd. I'm thinking Dark Eldar, as their new models really have been calling to me to paint. They also have some interesting rules that could make them really fun to play. If 6th Edition truly gets closer to being "rules closer to fluff", all three of these armies could be just what I'm looking for.
I've decided on Vampire Counts for Fantasy. Though these will be pushed off while I finish any commissions and the two incoming 40k lists I'll be working on. I'm a horror fan and it's time to show that off on the tabletop.
