Three entrepreneurs (Star Simpson, Dustin Boyer and Scott Tuborg) in San Francisco came up with a novel idea: an unmanned drone that delivers tacos to wherever you are currently standing/sitting.
How does it work? Simple. You download an iphone app, order and pay for your tacos, and the tacobot delivers it to the gps location you ordered from.
No money exchanges hands since you pay for it when placing the order. You don't even have to tip!
Now as amazing as this sounds, do note that current FAA regulations do not allow the usage of UAV's (that's Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) for commercial purposes.
Says Simpson:
"Honestly I think it's not totally unreasonable to regulate something as potentially dangerous as having flying robots slinging tacos over people's heads...On the other hand, it's a little bit ironic that that's the case in a country where you can be killed by a drone with no judicial review."
According to the entrepreneurs, the Tacocopter is more of a conversation starter than it is a legitimate business model. The intention is to give an example of the possible future of food delivery.
I'm all for it. Frankly I think it's the best invention since the frisbee.
Also, for East Coasters, the same company has a "Lobstercopter." I kid you not.
Surely there is a petition somewhere we can sign to get this thing "off the ground." (Sorry, couldn't resist.)
