Last Night's Auction - the first this new year- picked up where we left off last December (2010)
Five highly-desirable properties were on the auction program and our National Champion Auctioneer
Neil Newman quickly got things swinging in front of yet another 'full house' of excited buyers.
First off the block was 259 Ellerslie Highway with bids opening at $250,000 and quickly rising to $415,000 before being passed in for continued negotiation.
Next up was the lovely family home in 37 Ferndale Ave, Mount Wellington - well revered by owner and tenants as having a "beautiful,warm ambience".With opening bid from the floor at $350,000 several bidders fought it out until finally it rested with the successful buyer taking ownership at $461,000.
For those buyers chasing renovation projects, they don't come much better than the property at 3 Rydal Drive, Mt.Wellington.. It didn't take long for the hungry bidders to get going and it was 'all over' at $395,000!
Number 2 Peek Street, Ellerslie ELL20877 also attracted good attention but quickly reached a point where bidders weren't about to bid any higher. With the property being passed in at $421,000 it remains open for all willing buyers - several of whom couldn't be there on the night) to negotiate with Salesperson to strike a deal satisfactory to the owners. The final attraction of the night was a lovely 3 bedroom bungalow in 10A Derry Street, Greenlane ELL20869
Strong bidding commenced at $500,000 and moved along at $25,000 increments resting finally (unsold) at $668,000.Could be this property will now fall into the hands of those buyers who couldn't be there on the night or need to organise finance for themselves etc. No doubt in this market it won't be long before a 'SOLD' sticker appears on the sales board.
As I remarked a couple of weeks ago,so far as Ellerslie, Mt Wellington and Meadowbank are concerned, houses are in short supply compared to the demand for them.
