When drink is the food: Gerry Rafferty dies

The addiction to food is driven by the ingredients of which it is made. The same applies to drink.  On his suicidal binge on whisky, Gerry Rafferty was attracted to the drink because it is made from barley, as is beer. In the UK barley is not eaten so much as drunk, but is just as addicting as wheat ( and indeed the other cereals.)

Gerry, musical genius and rich man, was not able to enjoy his success, succumbed to his addiction and resisted all attempts to help him. In the end he did not win the battle against the darkness. May he rest in peace.

One day soon we will understand what drives people into addiction and death. I hope that day comes soon.
