Up On the Roof

More than a few months ago, I posted an entry called A Simple Prayer. To me, the word "help" is the shortest prayer around. It's the only word that needs to be said when you are discouraged, fearful or uncertain about what is happening in your life. I have been praying "help" for the past several weeks now. I know my plea has been answered. However, there are times when I have a hard time latching onto this knowing. This is when I know, that I need to find some alone time. Lately it has been hard to find a place just to sit and let my cares float away. When I absolutely can't find a place of my own to be alone for even twenty minutes, I find a place in my heart and mind that only I know of. The song, "Up On the Roof" by Gerry Goffin and Carole King is a catalyst that moves me to my secret place and find some peace and knowing that everything is indeed ok.

UP ON THE ROOF
by Gerry Goffin & Carole King

When this old world starts getting me down
And people are just too much for me to face
I climb way up to the top of the stairs
And all my cares just drift right in to space

On the roof it's peaceful as can be
And there the world below can't bother me

Let me tell you now
When I come home feelin' tired and beat
I go up where the air is fresh and sweet
I get away from the hustling crowds
And all that rat race noise down in the street

On the roof's the only place I know
Where you just have to wish to make it so
Oh, let's go
up on the roof

At night the stars put on a show for free
And darling, you can share it all with me

I keep a-telling you
Right smack dad in the middle of town
I found a paradise that's trouble proof
So if this world starts getting you down
there's room enough for two up on the roof

Up on the roof
Everyhting's all right
Up on the roof
Oh, come on baby
Up on the roof
Up on the roof

It seems lately that many of us are going through difficult times, stemming from our fears about finances and it seems our fears about how we are going to make it to the next week ties into our relationships with the people we care about. I could tell you to let it all go, it will all be ok.I wont, because I know that many of you can't see and end to what has been a part of your life the past several years. I will tell you to find a roof top to go to sit and just be.

You know I consider each one of you a friend. It doesn't matter to me if I see you daily or if it has been a very long time since we last connected. You are all very important to me and I send all of you, love. :-)

Getting Through Challenging Times

Life certainly does suck. Sometimes to the point where you can't see a light at the end of the tunnel. If you do see one, you begin to wonder if it's actually a train bearing down on you full steam ahead. I can honestly say that the past couple of weeks have not been what I had been hoping for. While they certainly have been challenging, I have been reminded, while moving through the fog, to look within. This has been something I have had to do over and over again with what has been minimal success. So I look within some more and what answer comes to me? In times like these, take your successes in small chunks. Don't wait for the big pay off, because when it doesn't happen right away, it only leaves you with more frustration.

So allow happiness to come to you in the little things. Something as simple as a great home cooked meal, or sitting with a good friend in a coffee shop, just talking about nothing. It may be a good book, or taking the steps to change your eating habits like going vegetarian. Small chunks of success. As the song goes. "Ive got to admit it's getting better. A little better all the time."

I send you all love....

And when people lash out at you in passive aggressive ways because of their failure to look within.... do your best to bless them and let them work things out for themselves.

–The First Chapter of the First Part of Thank God, I Survived! translated by Aris Tanone in USA

With three decades of clinical experience in my pocket, I know very well the real functions of the hospital and the effects of treatments. In addition, I was also a cancer patient who had to go through what all cancer patients have to experience along with all the dreadful fears. Lets imagine, you go to the hospital to see a doctor, what are you going to get? Do you think your Physicians have the time to comfort you? Will your Doctors give you a full explanation of your condition? After seeing your doctor it is more painful, more nervous, and more scary! Doctors do not understand your pain, your doctor will only increase the pain and increase your fear. You may then ask: if I do not listen to doctors, then where am I going to go? It is a mess out there. What is good, what is bad? How do I choose? I have walked this path for six years, it is very clear to me. My cell phone has always been on, and I have talked with thousands of cancer patients, with thousands of them coming to seek treatment. There are successes as well as failures. There are reasons for the failure, as well as the reasons for success and now I am very clear about them all.

Who Cares About Western or Chinese Medicines. As long as He Survives, It’s Good!

A billionaire was diagnosed to have lung cancer and went to Mainland China to seek medical treatment. A reporter then came to see me and asked: “He wasn’t cured in Taiwan, do you think the Mainland would offer a better chance for him?” I told the reporter: “Who cares if it’s Western medicine or Chinese medicine. As long as he survives it’s good !” Of course the reporter didn’t miss a word of mine. The next day this was on the headline of the newspaper: Dr. Hsu said: “Who cares if it’s western medicine or Chinese medicine. As long as he survives, it is good!” That made me not only have offended the Chinese and Western Medicine but, I also offended all Chinese medicine practitioners.

However, this is a fact! To survive you must survive on your own! It does not depend on doctors in order for you to survive!

When you make your own decisions, it is then a true decision!

After I went through some heavy contemplation, I decided not to go for a surgery. Six years ago that decision was considered to be extreme and a very high risk. All of the doctors warned me: “Without surgery you will only have three more years to live.” But my decision was final!

This decision came from the nature of my personality and habits. The nature of joy, anger, sorrow, the seven passions and six desires. Personality is the way of human expressions. Conservative, adventurous, optimistic, pessimistic, introvert, and extrovert. Habits were developed from habitual customs, either it was down-to-earth or beating about the bush. Each carries a sense of responsibility, evasion and cover up. I am naturally optimistic, positive and forward looking. I always have the courage to face learning, and to make my own decision since I was a kid, and after that I would proceed, and never regret it. My decision is not necessarily suitable for others, because of different personalities and habits of different individuals. That’s why when the cancer patients ask me: “Do I need to refrain from chemotherapy?” “Should I have a surgery?” I will never answer with a “yes or no” or a “To or not to.” In the face of cancer is the, “life choices” not checking the box for a right or wrong answer. When I talked to every cancer patient, I’d say: “If it was me, I would refuse, but I am not you, I do not make any decisions for you. When you make your own decisions, it is then a true decision!”

Trust Yourself, Not Me!

During the office visit, some patients pay great attention to my sometime three hours long explanation of cancer. Some of them even took notes or recorded my explanation. After hours of listening to individual consultations, the patient may say something like: “Dr. Shu, you are the greatest! The day I was declared to have cancer by the physician, it shocked me death but, after reading your book it was like me finding my savior and bringing me back to life! Today after listening to such a wonderful and moving explanation, my heart is now full of hope, you have made me very confident, I will do everything that you have recommended!” Being able to receive the full trust and support of patients is a great joy. Should I want to make a lot of money, tens of millions of dollars for instance, is very easy but, I turned to them and say: “Thank you for your support, but please believe me you must believe in yourself because your life is in your own hands. Starting from this second on you should have a fresh start, strive to believe in yourself, strive to let me believe and also strive to let others to believe you! ”

Inner dialogue, only effective to people with intention!

Expose to Mortal Danger Then Rising Again

After cancer is diagnosed and treated the patient has to endure and drag through a long and painful suffering. If we can survive, it is worth it. But the majority of the outcome is a painful flop. Death as a result of cancer doesn’t come from cancer itself, but due to physical and psychological trauma after someone is diagnosed and treated. The most difficult part of counseling a patient with cancer is making their “mind change” to get out out of the “cancer haze” as fast as possible. For me, “I wrote my will, and considered myself already dead, then bam, I was back alive.” It worked like a potent dose of medicine. In the face of death, there is no time for procrastination. There is a saying in Chinese, “put down the butcher’s knife and become a Buddha right on the spot” [放下屠刀,立地成佛] is just right for this, but more importantly, take death calmly “like going home” - a hero characteristic of death.

The worst case scenario, the greatest efforts

When they first came seeking medical treatment, many patients were full of tensions from fear. As I presented them with the details of a natural cocktail of cancer therapy, it seems to be a flash of hope that they could stay away from painful surgery, chemotherapy or radiotherapy. Some even thought that as long they spent money to purchase the anti-cancer products, practice the Ping Shuai Gong, then every thing would be settled and fine. Indeed if someone could proceed to do, “The natural cocktail of cancer therapy,” it would improve the absolute condition. However, cancer is a chronic disease, and weeks even months of change would not be enough to cure cancer immediately. A clear fact of life is that the cancer cells are hard to eradicate. As long as there is a problem with body’s immune system, it can recurre, which in-turn a recurrence to facing death. Therefore I have repeatedly warned the patient to regain their health, and in order to do that they must do a good job to have a perfect body, heart and soul. Persist in practice and perseverance are the basic requirements of life, but people will be lazy and they will tend to avoid their responsibility. In order to keep it for life, one must have great will power.

In the first book “Thank God, I had cancer”, I mentioned a very important attitude: “To prepare for the worst you must make the biggest effort!” Over a period of time in the treatment of cancer, there are many cancer patients that found themselves having their physical condition restored. Their loss of appetite has gone, so they thought that they were drifting away from the cancer. Some cancer patients that spent hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars then viewed that the cancer could be cured. These are the people that often in front of me with their fists clenched promissing me: “I have the perseverance, I will do all that you have told me to do!” However, I always worried with these type of patients, because they often “make the best of intentions, but take the easiest, (spend money), paths.” Only those who repent and posses the heart of Thanksgiving are the one who really could get away from cancer!

The worst case scenario is death. But if you have prepared to die, place yourself in the death bed, then you will rise again. Knowing that you may die at any time, you will then treasure every second, and will make every effort to spend every single day doing good deeds. Every morning waking up is a Thanksgiving for living another day! With this attitude facing every day life, even with more severe cancer would not matter anymore.

If there is tomorrow, tomorrow will be better

“Over numerous mountains and streams, I had my doubts that I could find the road. Then out of the shade of the willows, came bright flowers and another village,” so goes the famous line of Lu You. [山窮水盡疑無路,柳暗花明又一村] To the efforts of people willing to adhere to, tomorrow will be even better!

“A Better Tomorrow” is my last word of each lecture. Simon Hsueh the famous singer had a famous song prior to his dead, “If I still have tomorrow.” As for me, I do not know how long can I stay alive, but I’m sure, “If there is tomorrow, tomorrow will be better!” Wang Yung-ching, the God Father of business through his 92 years of wonderful life built a business of hundreds of billions of dollars into a Kingdom of trillion dollars. “Last lecture” author Prof. Randy Pausch passed away at the age of 46, exactly half the life of Wang Yung-ching, but in an “efforts to achieve the childhood dream,” the last lecture had touched tens of millions of people! Most of his life sentences were so beautiful. Thus, it is not the length of life but the broadness! It is the meaning and not the wealth! (Translated from its Chinese by drt).

Bone Joint-Arthritis and bone spur

Ching Poh Chu,71 (Female)

In 2002, I started having arthritis and bone spur.

Both of my knees were swollen and reddish, until someday I could not even stand up and lift heavy things.

In order to recover, I took medicine for pain and inflammation but the medicine did not help much.

In 2005,I started to take ATP products.First week later, my pain and swelling on my leg became worsen seemed to be recovery sign but amazingly, within a month, all my pain and swelling had gone. Both of my legs which were crooked before become straight now.

For the past two chinese new year's eve, I could then stand long enough to prepare food and that was definitely out of my ability before I took ATP Zeta products.

Besides, I have no more backache, insomia and constipation now.

Bones Joint-Osteoporosis

Janet Ting,47(Female)
I went for bone density test in 2002 and found out I had osteoporosis
(T-score= -2.08 compared to -1.0 for normal).
Besides, my palm was numb after I recovered from dengue fever.

During this period, I took medication and plenty of health supplement but no improvement.
Until one day I came across ATP zeta program and within a month my T-score was improved to -0.9 after consumed
ATP3 and ATP4.
Furthermore, the numbness was relieved.

Detox diet

A detox diet is a dietary regimen involving a change in consumption habits in an attempt to detoxify the body by removal of toxins or other contaminants.

It is claimed to improve health, energy, resistance to disease, mental state, digestion, as well as aiding in weight loss.
Detox diets usually suggest that fruits and vegetables compose a majority of one's food intake.
Limiting this to unprocessed (and sometimes also non-GM) foods is often advocated.
Limiting or eliminating alcohol is also a major factor, and drinking more water (which helps curb appetite) is similarly recommended.

Critics point out that the human liver, kidneys, lungs and skin have evolved to adequately expel environmental contaminants and are perfectly equipped to continue to do so unassisted.
It has been posited that some fruits and vegetables may actually contain more natural toxins than animal substances such as meat, fish, and milk..

Healthy diet.

A healthy diet contains a balance of food groups and all the nutrients necessary to promote good health.

Human nutrition is enormously complex and a healthy diet may vary widely according to an individual's genetic makeup, environment, and health.

Healthy eating is the practice of making choices about what and/or how much one eats with the intention of improving or maintaining good health.

Typically, this means following recommendations for a healthy diet.

The concept of healthy eating is primarily a problem in rich countries where the lifestyle includes a modicum of outdoor physical activities, high but not always high-quality food consumption, and a trend towards industrially-produced foods instead of locally-sourced, locally-prepared meals..

The Cartoonist Enigma

Since I have been told that I should stop posting about past events like I’m living in the past, I’ve decided to go with something random this time. I’ve always been intrigued by this topic. So I did a little research and here goes….
Who do you think are the most fascinatingly brilliant people on this planet? Scientists? Nah…they’re just plain boring!...Politicians? Yeah right!!...The Sports Illustrated models? Well they may not be the brightest, but damn are they fascinating!!
This may come as a surprise, but according to me, CARTOONISTS are the most brilliant people ever….and I have evidence to back my claim!! Let’s take a look at a few examples, shall we?

Example#1: The laptop ahead of its time!

Take a look at the picture to the left. Notice the character working on something that quite distinctly resembles a laptop. Now read the following lines carefully. This particular Flash Gordon comic strip represents a Serbian translation of an episode drawn way back in 1937!!That’s right! The time when even personal computers had not been invented! Computer science historians aver that the first computer was developed around World War II.

Example#2: The Dilbert Future…for real??

Scott Adams came out with The Dilbert Future in 1997 with a satirical look at the future of mankind. In one of the chapters, Adams jokes about software that would move all the Junk Mail to the Trash without anyone needed to open the mail. This sounds eerily like a Spam Filter to me! And 1997 was well before Spam Filters came into existence! Adams should have probably patented his idea. He’d probably be raking in more millions than he’s raking in right now, which is quite a lot in itself I would assume!

Example#3: Subliminal Messages in Cartoons!

I’m sure most of you know about the subliminal messages in cartoons, especially in the Disney ones. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you have to check this YouTube link out! You’ll be shocked…I assure you!
Now I don’t know the reason for the subliminal messages. Maybe Walt Disney was a pedophile as many people have suggested. Maybe he was just a sicko who wanted to have some fun. But the fact of the matter is…The way in which the messages have been embedded into the cartoons is quite brilliant! And this is done by several cartoonists. I’ve just taken Disney as an example.

So that’s that. If you can think of anyone with more brilliance than these guys (apart from me of course), let me know!

A New Adventure

Yesterday, the news came out that legendary Detroit Tigers broadcaster, Ernie Harwell has inoperable cancer. I remember sitting on the front steps during summer nights with my dad, listening to Ernie as he would paint a picture of the evenings game. Mr. Harwell knew well the adage,"less is more". He understood that silence is a broadcaster's tool that allows the listener to see the landscape of the game in their mind's eye. Baseball was and is my first love in sports. Ernie helped to make it an adventure and now in his words, he's "ready for a new adventure."

Harwell has been an inspiration to many, simply because he is a very nice man. His positive spirit has allowed him to look at each aspect of his life as a journey. Life is something we should marvel over and be grateful for; even when the skies look dark and foreboding. We are painting a beautiful picture of our lives just by seeing them as an adventure and not as a struggle. Those words, "adventure" and "struggle" conjure up different feelings when read, thought or uttered. When you say "adventure" how does it make you feel? Do you feel excitement in your heart center? Is there a sense that although what you may be undertaking may have times of feeling like you're in an "Indiana Jones" movie, crossing frayed rope bridges, running from bounding boulders or hanging on to a cliff with your fingers that you know without any doubt that you will emerge loving your life? Now say the word "struggle" How does it make you feel? If you are like most people, your solar plexus probably feels like climbing into itself, retreating from the world and the people that would be your friends and teachers along the way? See your life a quest to know in an intuitive way your true essence and appreciate that what you say and do will have an affect on everyone around you and even those far away.

It's been a long while since I posted anything to "Radiant You". I had moments of doubt and wondered where I was headed on my trek through life. I knew intuitively that I had to trust that all would be well and to follow the nudging of my heart. Huge changes are underway for myself and while the trail may be full of twists and turns, valleys and hills. I know that life is an amazing journey that I am grateful for.

I thank Ernie for showing me that having a positive outlook about life serves to bring contentment and joy to myself and anyone who chooses to show only love to those we come in contact with. I also am grateful to friends who have moved on to new adventures in their lives. Without them, I wouldn't be where I am now. Finally, I am appreciative of those who are currently in my life. You bring a smile to my face and warmth to my heart.

I send all of you love.

Hai friendssss. I'm back here in Baguio since the other night. So yeah I was at Manila for 3 days since Saturday with Roxanne. I stayed at her condo at Espanya. I got there around 7:30pm and she picked me up at the terminal. We dropped off my things then we went straight to Trinoma to buy her iTouch. Bought food at Yellowcab and Starbux then we went to her place again so we could watch movies and talk about good stuff. They slept during the third movie around 4 or 5am. Lameee

Then we had to leave for Gapo so we could sync the iPod, which we named Sueside from Funnynames.Com and I renamed mine AC/DShe. We got there around 1pm and went straight to Mehaky. Ate lunch at Coco Lime with the Father and went grocery shopping at Royal. Forced the father to watch Orphan with us in our big screen tv but he refused :(

Went to Rox's place before it got dark and ate. Almost all her relatives were there CUS IT WAS HER BIRTHDAY and they talked about anything negative about Baguio. Good grace. If i could just write them a book of anything ugly about Manila. We went back to my house around 8:30. We were so shitfaced we slept on the couch instead of watching something good or downloading thingamajigs for our iPods. She left when the Father arrived around 11pm. I was suppose to stay up all night to download awesome shite but I slept without realizing. I got so pissed when i woke up 6 in the morning.

We were suppose to leave for Manila, 7am but Rox's biological parents got in the way. We were suppose to have breakfast at McDo but the father cooked breakfast and we were so late already so she took out 2 fries, 2 coke floats instead and i bought a pack of Yakult. We arrived in Manila around 1nn, dropped off our stuff at her place and went to Trinoma. We were there til 6pm just looking for a good iPod cover but we didn't find any. It was either too ugly, or too expensive.

We head back to her condo. She studied for her Botany test while I was writing this awesome story about myself hahaha then she slept around 11. I stayed up, finished some chapters of ''my'' story, cut my hair, ate Kitkat bites, drank Yakult, clean Rox's room, took pictures with our fisheye then read Love, Stargirl. I slept when Rox woke up. She left for school then i got ready to leave. I went to Trinoma by myself. BY MYSELF HAH! Bought stuff at Clipper. Damn it Clipper is so awesomeee it hurts :(

My plan of buying Galbis an alien figure that when pulled down would say "You're Far Out!", Mikey a Magmasaurus, Inky a Polarized lens and Hunny pop tarts were nonexistent and i'm hareally broke.

I left Manila around 3pm after having a shat with Rox about journals, iPods, wifis, Yakults, places, books, doodles, etc. Had so much fun! Didn't get to see a lot of people though like i was suppose to but twas okay.

Yesterday we were at Starbux the whole day it was depressing. We didn't even have any idea Banana and Galbis and Shapno the heart were also there. We saw Lem and Kubi though. Then we ate a lot, as usual and this post stops there
