Haworthia floribunda var. major

H. floribunda var. major, Swellendam

Haworthia floribunda var. major M.B.Bayer

major: larger.

H. floribunda var. major was described by Bruce Bayer from Swellendam area. The plants are generally larger, have up to 15 cm long leaves. They are lighter green in colour. In nature it forms small clusters and same in cultivation -  it offsetts quite easy.

Distribution map of H. floribunda var. major

I have observed plants directly at Swellendam under the gum trees, they grow in open just amongs the dead leaves and other things with no protection by stones or grass.

Hayashi and Breuer use a name H. kondoi  for this species (because of not using variets in their classifications).
