How To Get Started In Minecraft

How to get started in Minecraft

OK, so if you haven't played Minecraft before, you may think it is very easy. You may this all you have to do is make a new world and you're done. That is not true. I'm willing to bet many people make a world and then have no idea what to do. This will help solve that problem.

Keys
When you start Minecraft, you need to start moving around. To move your character, use the WASD keys. W for forward, A for left, S for backwards, and D for right. Usually, to open your inventory you press E, but sometimes it's I. To open the options menu, click esc. To attack/mine, left click. To place/activate something. right click. If you want to take a screenshot, press F2. If that doesn't work, try shift + F2.

How To Get Started
Once you know the keys, you need to chop trees down. To do this, just left click on wood. You will get the wood when it breaks. Mine the whole tree, then mine some more. Now, open your inventory. You will see a 4x2 box area with an arrow pointing to a 1 box area. Put the wood in the 4x2 one (anywhere in it) by left clicking the wood, dragging it into one of the squares, and left clicking again. Now left click (or shift click) the output (wooden planks) until you get it all and bring to your toolbar (the very bottom row of boxes). You can now make a crafting table. Take the wooden planks, right click 4 times into the square area, one plank in each area, and you made a crafting table. You can use this to craft tools and many other items. Mining
If you haven't crafted tools yet, make sure to craft them. If you have tools, it's time for you to start mining. You could either make a mine shaft or dig in a cave. If you find a cave, get some stone by mining it. You will get cobblestone. With this cobblestone you can now make stone tools. Once you have stone tools, you can mine iron. Iron is an ore that requires smelting. Once you mine it, you need to smelt it. To make a furnace, put 8 pieces of cobblestone around the crafting table grid. You can use wooden items or coal as fuel. Once you have smelted it, you can make tools with that. If you find diamond, gold, or lapis luzuli, you need to mine it with an iron pickaxe or greater. Just to warn you, golden tools aren't that good. Lapis is used as a dye to dye sheep. Gold and diamond are used for a few items. Gold needs to be smelted. Diamond makes the best tool set, since it lasts the longest and mines the fastest.

Building A Home
Homes are the best way to have a shelter. They protect you, other than just being out in the open. Building a home is easy. You really only need to make it big enough to fit a bed (3 pieces of wooden planks on the bottom of a crafting table with 3 pieces of wool over them), a furnace, a crafting table, and some chests (8 pieces of wooden planks around a crafting table).

Fighting
When you fight a mob (creature), you need to use the left click button to swing. If you're using a sword, you can right click to bring your sword down.

Strongholds
If you find a stronghold, it will contain a portal to the End dimension. It will be broken. You need a few eye of enders. Once the portal is complete, the lava will turn into black. Jump into it, and you will be teleported to the end. The only ways of leaving are by killing the ender dragon or by killing yourself of getting killed.

That's about it!

I hoped this helped you with Minecraft!
