We used the block to review 2 concepts we have already covered in the past few weeks. We reviewed the comparing and ordering of Fractions and Decimals on a Number line. The students worked to convert decimals to fractions, improper fractions to proper, mixed fractions, and decimals to mixed fractions.
The second worksheet was found on the back of the first reviewed the process of creating simplified and reduced fractions. Students the organized cards (cut from the worksheet) to have equivalent fractions side by side. Once organized correctly, the cards presented a list of letters which when decoded created an original phrase.
Almost all students completed the first work sheet before leaving class, and many finished the second worksheet. Those that did not complete the equivalent fractions/simplifying side are expected to have it finished for Friday's class.
I have also spoken to students reminding them that they should be performing approximately 30 - 60 minutes of math each night we have class. This can take the form of completing assignments, or of review on IXL or from the text.
