How to Fix Up the Economy

Sometimes people lose touch of the basics. An economy is just a means of providing people with the things they need in order to live. It’s a tool - not the holy grail. The current type of capitalism - neo feudalism really - does not easily allow people to earn what they need. The problem, in other words, is systemic. Because people who are very rich (e.g. Mitt Romney) are not particularly long range thinkers, they missed the fact that what they were taught about capitalism was a myth. Many of these people are still hanging on to a system that most people know doesn’t work. As I showed in the previous article about the trickle down economy, it's not the natural outcome of capitalism, but rather the outcome of a benevolent wealthy class.

So how can the economy be fixed?

  • Before the mid 70s, credit was a dirty word. Centuries of experience had shown people that if one consistently bought on credit, there would be a period when one couldn’t pay for it. However, the credit card system made billions as a result of the interest and fees paid by using the credit card system. Before there can be any healing of the economic system, people have to get back to a cash system. No, it isn’t easy, but it is necessary.

  • Eliminate big business. In days it gone by, it served a purpose because goods could be produced en masse which resulted in economies of scale. However, that’s no longer the case. We have the technology for machinery to be able to make just as many items and we can do them locally. Three D printers are a case in point. The greatest advantage of outlawing big business is that it gives many more people the opportunity of opening up small business. Big business is, at this point, a deadly dinosaur.

Our economic issues are systemic. It's not a matter of big government vs

small government or cutting taxes or not. It's a case of the system as

a whole not working.

  • Revert to the classical education system in which children were educated to have skills and forget the social engineering experiment. Trades teach skills and can be learnt very young. Every eighteen year old needs to have marketable skills by the time they leave school. It is stuff and nonsense that university is the only means of providing skills. Eighty five percent of graduates leaving university do not use the degree they studied at university. That just demonstrates exactly how useless university is at preparing people for jobs. In Germany, only ten percent of students attend university. Yet most Germans are highly skilled. They got to trade schools and the country, as a results, has the strongest economy in Europe. It is a myth that America can be the brains behind the manufacturing. Manufacturing and product is the road to wealth. Also, when people have real skills that are marketable, they can earn a living. The problem with the current bs university system is that 85% of graduates don't use their degree because it's a useless degree and the jobs they take can be done by a sixteen year old. The myth that if one has an university education, it somehow makes you a harder worker, is baloney. It actually just makes you a sheep that you believed all the bs.

3D Printers are the wave of the future.

  • Keep as much business as possible local. This will keep the money within the community. When big business isn't local, the money they make gravitates outside the community.

  • Get government to subsidize large robotic machines like 3D printers so that when people have an idea, they don't have to send to China to have them made. Instead, they can drive down the road, order a sample, and if they like it, can 'print' en masse and resell their goods!
